Suggestions for a healthy and happy brain!
*Drink plenty of filtered water throughout the day. It is recommended that we drink half our body weight in ounces....more if you exercise or sweat regularly. Most tap water is full of contaminants so it is best to have a water filter that provides you with a cleaner water source. See Dr. Leslie's top choice under Water Filters under the Be Well Store!
*Eat foods rich in healthy fats such as raw nuts, avocados, organic eggs, wild caught fish, avocado oil or coconut oil. You may also consider adding in a Super Omega Fish or Krill Oil supplement.
*Eat a diet rich in organic, dark leafy greens and veggies such as spinach, kale, broccoli and arugula.
*AVOID: Gluten, Soft Drinks (especially diet), cow's dairy, excess alcohol, energy drinks.
*Exercise! One of Dr. Leslie's favorite things to do is start her day Rebounding for 15 minutes. This is an excellent way to increase your heart rate, burn calories and stimulate detoxification though the lymphatic system.
*Infrared Sauna: There are many health benefits of daily sauna use but specifically for the brain is detoxification. Our brain is mostly made of fat which can store significant environmental toxins. *Meditation: Meditation is key in not only quieting the mind but in helping to get the brain out of fight or flight into rest and recovery. Dr. Leslie's favorite Meditation Ap is called Insight Timer. She also highly recommends the work of Dr. Joe Dispenza on the scientific studies of Meditation and the body.
